Twitter finally gets an edit option

How many times have you cringe when you have made an error while posting a tweet? The microblogging site has launched the sought after ‘Edit Tweet’ option allowing users to make changes to their tweets after posting it.

According to Twitter, this is one of Twitter's most anticipated services. This edit feature allows users to edit their 280-character message within 30 minutes of posting a tweet. If a tweet has been edited, there will be a separate icon and timestamp. Users can see what the message looked like before the modification. That is, even if the message is edited, the original message (or messages) will be visible.

Twitter also said that a small group of users are currently testing the feature so that any issues can be identified and resolved quickly. The company said in a blog post, How this feature can be misused is also a subject of our examination. It is never possible to be 100% careful about this.

Twitter has indicated that the edit feature will be rolled out to all users over time. Twitter spokeswoman Stephanie Cortez said that through the test, Twitter can finding out what could happen if the edit service is opened for everyone.
