YouTube is testing new zoom feature with premium subscribers

YouTube is testing a new feature to zoom in on mobile app videos. Experimental feature will run in both 'Portrait' and 'Full Screen Landscape' modes. Currently only YouTube Premium subscribers are getting the opportunity to use it.
YouTube said they will be testing the feature until September 1. In other words, the video platform will have at least one month to make necessary changes based on the opinions of users before the large scale circulation.
Tech site Verge reported, To enable the 'pinch to zoom' feature, first go to the settings menu of the YouTube app. The new experimental feature will be found in the 'Try New Features' section of the menu. But for this you must be a subscriber of YouTube premium service. Only premium service subscribers have access to the 'Try New Features' tab.
Verge reported, To use the new feature, it takes some time to open the new video and try to pinch the screen with two fingers on the display to enlarge it. However, once enabled videos can be zoomed up to 8X.
While the feature is new for YouTube, it is nothing new for users. While YouTube doesn't have a 'native' feature to zoom in on videos, both Android and iOS platforms have this capability. You can easily zoom in on videos in the YouTube desktop version as well.
Verge said, Adding the feature to the mobile version of the app will improve users personal experience.
Last month, YouTube introduced 'picture-in-picture' mode for iPhone and iPad. This feature was first verified by the YouTube authorities through premium service customers.
