New American political party 'Forward'

Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Young

Dozens of former US Republican and Democrat leaders have announced a new political party. The name of the team is 'Forward'. They announced this on Wednesday local time.

Reuters reports that many expect the new party to become a third power outside the two-party system in the United States.

This new group will be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Young and former Republican New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman. They hope that the new political party will become an alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties that dominate US politics.

Leaders of the party will hold a series of events in 24 cities of the United States to gather public support. They will officially launch the team in Houston on September 24. The group plans to hold a national convention in a major US city next summer.

According to Reuters, the new party is being formed by merging three political parties that have emerged in the past few years. Party leaders cited a Gallup poll last year that found two-thirds of Americans believe politics needs a third force.
