Asia Cup 2022 will be held in UAE

The vision was similar for several days. That vision was finally formalized. Although Sri Lanka is the host country, the Asia Cup is once again going to be held in the United Arab Emirates.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) said in a press release today that the Six team Asia Cup 2022 will be held in the Emirates from August 27 to September 11.

Due to Sri Lanka's ongoing economic crisis, the venue had to be changed at the last minute. That's why the organization has apologized to the Lankan audience.

ACC President Jai Shah said that they had made every effort to organize the tournament in Sri Lanka, All efforts have been made to organize the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. But in the end it had to be changed to Emirates. Although the game will be played in the Emirates, Sri Lanka will be the host. This Asia Cup is very important for the World Cup preparation of Asian countries. I thank Sri Lankan Cricket Board and Emirates Cricket Board for their cooperation.

Sri Lankan Cricket Board President Shammi Silva also accepted the decision, looking forward to inviting our neighboring countries to Sri Lanka. But I support the decision of ACC. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board along with ACC and Emirates Cricket Board will complete the event.

The five Test playing nations of Asia Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan will directly participate in the Asia Cup. The remaining one team will join after qualifying. Before the main event, UAE, Nepal, Hong Kong will be the qualifiers.

In 2018, the last edition of the Asia Cup was also held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In the one day edition of the service, India defeated Bangladesh in the final to become the champion.

Asia Cup is played in the same edition as the ICC global event ahead. Before the 2019 ODI World Cup, the ODI tournament was held in 2018. This October there is T20 World Cup in Australia. Before that, Asia Cup is going to be T20 edition.
