Samsung New Feature Will Hide Your Photos During Repair
When the user gets the phone repaired somewhere, the phone still has his photos, messages and other personal data. At this time there is a fear of data leakage of the user's phone and such cases have happened. Samsung is bringing a new feature called 'repair mode' to get rid of that fear.
New feature was announced in a statement by the news site of Samsung's Korea division, where the feature will give repair technicians limited access inside the user's phone.
This feature will give the technician enough access to repair the phone, but not enough access to leak the user's photos.
This feature will first come to South Korea's 'Galaxy S21' phone. Apart from this, the Korean electronics giant plans to bring the facility to other models in the future.
According to Samsung's press release, users can turn on the feature by going to the 'Battery and Device Care' option in the built-in settings. After that restarting the phone in repair mode will hide the user account, photos and messages.
When the feature is turned on, the phone's technician or other people using the phone will only have access to the default apps installed. And only the user can decide when to turn off the repair mode.
Samsung has not yet confirmed whether Repair Mode will come to other regions or which phones will support the feature. Technology site Verge wanted to know Samsung's comments in this regard.
Samsung is working with the American e-commerce site 'iFixit' on a feature called 'Self Repair Program', through which users can repair their phones themselves in many cases. The feature could be added to various Samsung phones later this summer.
